The New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Demands for assessment and accountability are increasing in all public agencies, and libraries are no exception. Libraries must assess and improve services, indicate outcomes, and show value. Libraries are looking for more specific and more subtle tools that can be used by all staff on a continuous basis in small but effective assessment and improvement steps.

The NY3Rs obtained LSTA funding in 2003/04, 2005/06, and 2006/07 to support a series of workshops repeated in three locations in New York State, on the topic of Continuous Assessment and Continuous Improvement.  These workshops were presented by Sara Laughlin and Associates.  Teams of staff from libraries throughout the state participated and learned many techniques and tools for rapid cycle improvement of library processes and services.  Materials developed during and for each workshop series can be found on the pages below:
