KNOW & GO: WORKING WITH PATRONS AND THE COMMUNITY AFTER A DISASTER

After tragic events like these, people in the community look to the library to find information and guidance to help them begin to recover and/or rebuild. What do libraries need to do in order to be prepared to be a community resource? How can libraries best serve the needs of their patrons? This Know & Go will focus on how libraries can help patrons connect with community resources as well helping patrons preserve their own documents and personal memories after a disaster. Target Audience Everyone Prerequisites None Technical Requirements Live Online System Requirements About the Instructor: Gina Minks has been the Imaging and Preservation Service Manager at Amigos Library Services since 2005 and is the Project Director for Amigos’ Education and Training grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. She is a member of AIC-CERT (American Institute for Conservation Cultural Emergency Response Taskforce), Chair of the AIC-CERT Working Group and one of eight national mentors for the Council of State Archivists IPER (Intergovernmental Preparedness and Emergency Response) project. She is an active member of ALA-ALCTS serving on various membership committees. Prior to coming to Amigos, Gina was at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as part of their Electronic Text Center and the University of Tulsa – McFarlin Library, where she served as a Special Collections Librarian and Web & Digitization Services Librarian. While at the University of Tulsa, she was active with Amigos committees and the recipient of two Amigos Fellowships. The Imaging and Preservation Service is funded in part by a grant from the Division of Preservation and Access of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

General
Registration for all NY3RS Association, Inc. (NY3Rs) workshops and events is now available online through the NY3RS website.

All registrants must either be an individual member in good standing with their local Council, or their employer/institution must be a member in good standing with their local Council. If you have any questions about your membership status, please contact your Regional Council.
Registration
The deadline for registration and payment is normally one week prior to the event unless otherwise stated. Registrations will not be accepted after this date.
Payment (or payment arrangements), if applicable, must be received by NY3RS on or before the registration deadline in order to receive materials and/or login credentials for an online class.
Registrations are not complete until NY3RS has received payment, a purchase order number, or notification of pending payment.
The NY3RS will invoice for any registrations made for which payment is not received if the registrant does not cancel. This policy will be strictly enforced.
Cancellations
It is the policy of the NY3Rs to cancel training if fewer than eight (8) people are registered. If a workshop is cancelled, participants will be contacted at least three (3) business days prior to the workshop.
Refunds
Refunds of registration fees are made ONLY when requested at least one week prior to the workshop or event.
If a registrant has paid by credit card and requests a refund, NY3RS will refund the class via PayPal.
Participants who register and make payment and who do not attend the workshop or event on the day will not receive a refund unless they have cancelled within the time period specified above. Workshop or event materials will be made available (including any class recordings) as though they had attended the class.
NY3RS will invoice for any registrations made for which payment is not received if the registrant does not cancel within the above listed guidelines.
