At these
two meetings for the NY3Rs consortium, LibQUAL+TM team members from the Association
of Research Libraries (ARL) and Texas A&M University Libraries will walk
NY3Rs participants through their 2003 survey results. Presentations will
include an overview and explanation of survey results by LibQUAL+TM
researchers Colleen Cook and Bruce Thompson. Attendees will have the
opportunity to ask questions related to the results, provide feedback on their
survey experience, learn from other participants, and discuss how to put
LibQUAL+TM results into action.
Colleen
Cook is Executive
Associate Dean of the Texas A&M University Libraries, a position she has
held since 1994. She oversaw the administration of the SERVQUAL protocol to the
University library community in 1995, 1997, and 1999, which led to her current
role as a Project Manager for the ARL LibQUAL+TM project. She also
holds the Wright Professorship in Library Science at the University. During her
20-year tenure on the faculty at Texas A&M University Libraries, she has
served as Associate Dean for Administration, Assistant Director for Technical
Services, Head of Acquisitions, Library Automation Coordinator, and Head of Access
Services. She has published journal articles and book chapters and made
numerous presentations in the fields of library science, history, and research
methodology. She specializes in qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
Amy
Hoseth is New
Measures Project Assistant at ARL. She is responsible for coordinating
communications, workshops, and presentations for participating libraries in the
LibQUAL+TM program. Amy joined ARL in April of 2002. Prior to that she
worked in corporate communications at WorldCom, where she served alternately as
managing editor of the employee newsletter, corporate spokesperson, and public
relations liaison for consumer products and services. She is currently working
on her MLS degree at the University of Maryland’s College of Information
Studies.
Martha
Kyrillidou is
Senior Program Officer for Statistics and Measurement at ARL. She has
experience and interdisciplinary training in libraries and evaluation and
measurement, having worked at the Library Research Center at the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at the Bureau of Research of the Department of
Education at Kent State University prior to coming to ARL. She is the
editor of the annual statistical publications at ARL. Martha supports the work
of the ARL Statistics and Measurement Committee and the New Measures
Initiative, which aims to identify and disseminate information about tools that
help libraries manage their operations more effectively. One of these tools is
LibQUAL+TM, for which Martha is a Project Manager. Martha has
worked closely with libraries in Greece and helped organize the 4th Northumbria
International Conference on Performance Measurement in Libraries and
Information Services.
Bruce
Thompson is
Professor and Distinguished Research Scholar, Department of Educational
Psychology, Texas A&M University, and Adjunct Professor of Community
Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine. He is also serving as External Evaluator
for the ARL LibQUAL+TM project. His prior positions
include University Research Professor of Education at the University of New
Orleans and Assistant Director of the Program Evaluation Department in the
Houston Independent School District. Bruce is a fellow of the American
Psychological Association and the editor of Educational and Psychological
Measurement and the series, Advances in Social Science Methodology. He is a
Past-President of the Association for Assessment in Counseling and of the
Southwest Educational Research Association, and an elected member of the
Council of the American Educational Research Association. Bruce is the author
of nine books and 175 articles, and has conducted over 90 statistics and
measurement training sessions at professional meetings.
